Faithball

Making A Full-length Movie

Faith-based Action Thriller?

Story

Faithball is a story idea I had since I did Paint 2006 but did not begin writing it until late 2023 and finished it in June of 2024. A group of young adults and teens go to a new location deep in the woods on what they think is a National Forest to play paintball, but find themselves surrounded by dark creatures. “They are not playing to win, they are praying to survive.”

Faithball is a positive, uplifting, and thrilling story filled with action and chills for most of the family. Those under twelve and people with weak hearts may find it a little over-stimulation for their liking. It is an unusual and unique take on good vs. evil, David vs. Goliath, and The Adversary vs. Humanity. Your spirit, fears, and faith will have a ball. Unlike Chardonnay and many other of my stories it is not quite “Entirely Family Friendly.”

Cinema should make you forget you are sitting in a theater.

Action and Thrills

When you add the element of faith, it opens up opportunities for deeper themes to emerge as the group faces danger, perhaps pushing each character to confront their personal struggles, doubts, or beliefs.

1. The Forest as a Metaphor

The forest could be a symbol of the unknown, the trials of life, or even a place of spiritual testing. As the group fights to survive, they may also be forced to face their own fears, weaknesses, and questions about faith. There any moments where the group, lost and uncertain, turns to prayer, relying on their faith to find strength or direction.

2. Moral Dilemmas in the Heat of Action

As the group navigates the dangerous night, there are situations where the characters are forced to make decisions that challenge their moral or ethical beliefs. They are faced with sacrificing one person to save the group. How they handle the tension between their own survival instincts and their values, like forgiveness, love, and sacrifice are revealed and leads to intense moments where characters experience growth.

3. A Hidden Threat or Spiritual Force

While the characters are focused on the external danger spiritual elements are layered because of an entity and a supernatural force that tests their faith and unity adding an eerie layer to the story while allowing your characters to grow spiritually as well as physically.

4. Character Growth through Adversity

Character struggle with doubt in their faith, while others might be trying to live out their beliefs in a practical way. How they support and challenge each other in this life-or-death situation is revealed. Through the intense pressure of the night, each character is forced to rethink their understanding of trust, forgiveness, and grace. A turning point involves someone making a sacrificial decision that reflects their newfound belief or trust in something greater.

5. The Role of Faith

Faith manifests in the face of danger. The characters pray for safety and survival rely on faith to guide their decisions. There is a turning point where the group stops running and faces the threat to save their friends and family from damnation, drawing strength from their collective faith. Themes of redemption, grace, and salvation — whether that’s through a physical rescue or a moment of spiritual awakening for the characters are explored.

It is a great opportunity to have those faith-based elements unfold naturally through the action, rather than feeling forced. Hoping it will resonate with audiences

Characters

Each character is a key part in the story, I do not write irrelevant characters in my stories, although there have been a few, but not in Faithball. The twenty-five characters have a purpose and I have no set specifics for each character, just an age range which gives me an unlimited amount of people I can choose from. The base of the character is written, once an actor is chosen for the roll, then I will add lines and actions specific for that person's characteristics and looks to make it more personal and fun.
